cell-phones

  • Tech-junkies, put that old cell phone to good use!

Everyone here knows I'm a reformed tech junkie (fortunately, being house-poor has helped free me of this addiction). I know there are other tech junkies in the building. You know who you are. One of the symptoms of being a tech junkie is that you tend to have a surplus of perfectly good, functional electronics that no longer get the attention they deserve because you have moved on to the newest and shiniest model.

Over the past several years I have accumulated three extra cell phones in my pursuit of the perfect phone. Thanks to Apple and their iPhone, I have finally stopped searching. Well, as these older phones collected dust in my "that's so last year" electronics drawer, I came across a postage-paid mailer with "cell phones for soldiers" written on it. I am happy to say that as of today my extra cell phones, chargers and that cheesy looking Robocop bluetooth headset are all headed to the war zone! They will go to soldiers that need them. They will help them stay in touch with their families over here as they fight for us over there. What a great program.

So, tech junkies, purge those "that's so last year" electronics drawers and put your old phones to good use. AT&T is offering all 1,800 wireless store locations across the country as drop-off sites, through July 2008! So just drop by an AT&T store with your old phone and it's a done deal. Or print out your own shipping label.

Let's face it, your old phones will probably be happier with someone who will love them anyway.
