Personally, I don't like choices. Well, at least not too many. One of my favorite new brands is Red Box movie rentals. With kiosks super-conveniently located in retail locations, Red Box provides a limited number of movie rental options. I don't miss the selection of Blockbuster or Netflix. Those options take too long. Just give me the instant gratification of a recent release.
The issue of choice applies to client-agency relationships as well. I believe agencies need to be thoughtful about how they present choices to clients. In our enthusiasm for our clients and for our work, we love to generate ideas and concepts. It's tempting to share them all to demonstrate our passion or to show evidence of industry. We need to resist those temptations and present our best work in the form of research-backed recommendations.
There's room for creativity and expansive thinking while giving clients the benefit of our experience and expertise. In my experience, clients aren't looking for a laundry list of tactics or a dozen clever headlines, they're looking for one or two that'll make the difference in their business.
SXSW is one of the very best interactive conferences in the world. We've sent individuals in the past and we've always been HUGE advocates for the conference. This year we decided to submit some ideas. The people at SXSW have created a panel picker so attendees can select what they want to see at the conference. With 1200+ ideas submitted, we want your help! It will be hard to find our ideas with all the others.
Follow this link to see the 4 Capstrat ideas. (or read below) You must register to vote. Consider doing so. There are a lot of great ideas out there.
Vote for our friends at Campfire, too.
